Cook Children's Health Care System, a not-for-profit children’s hospital in the US, has partnered with Athenahealth and Microsoft to deploy information technology solutions to offer better paediatric care and reduced healthcare costs.

The paediatric facility will implement Athenahealth's electronic health record service, athenaClinicals for Cook Children's Physician Network (CCPN), and the revenue cycle management service athenaCollector.

The hospital will also deploy Microsoft's Amalga Unified Intelligence System 2009 to unify patient data from multiple sources, allowing CCPN to access real-time information from a single source.

Through Athenahealth's technology, primary care physicians across the US can electronically refer their patients for virtual consultations with CCPN's paediatric sub-specialists.
