Hendrick Health System, based in the US state of Texas, will employ a new authentication system to allow physicians to give faster care at its trauma centre.

Sentillion's Tap & Go will stop sign-on delays at workstations in Hendrick's trauma centre by allowing physicians to log in to computer networks with a badge instead of having to comply with the existing mandatory screen savers and password procedures, the company said.

Physicians sign on once at the start of their shift and are then just required to tap a badge on any workstation on the floor to instantly access patient information, the company said.

Caregivers can also tap to authorise actions such as ordering medication.
