Four new government hospitals will be established in the Northern Emirates, the Ministry of Public Works said.
The Shaikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, the Obstetrics, Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital in Sharjah, Masfoot Hospital in Ajman and Umm Al Quwain Hospital are expected to be open by 2011, according to the ministry’s periodical report.
The cost of building the Shaikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital and the Umm Al Quwain Hospital is estimated to be Dh1.1bn, the Khaleej Times reports.
The Dh600m Shaikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital will be built to international standards and have a capacity of 400 beds while Masfoot Hospital will house 30 beds, the report said.
The four-storey Obstetrics, Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital will house more than 200 beds as well as 16 incubators, an outpatient clinics and four operating theatres, the news agency reports.
