The Australian Government has announced that it will recruitment clinical support officers at New South Wales' (NSW) Dubbo Base Hospital to help nurses focus on patient care rather than on administrative tasks.

The government has invested more than A$616,000 for the recruitment as part of the Caring Together: The Health Action Plan for NSW.

The seven ward-based clinical support officers will help local nurses with administration and paperwork on recruitment, supply orders and reports, the government said.

This will enable senior nurses to focus on coordinating services and patient care, including taking immediate action to a patient's deteriorating condition and supervising junior staff, the government said.
