The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) and the Laredo Independent School District in the US state of Texas are deploying a web-based system to identify H1N1 influenza infection in students and school staff.

The system, named Argus1, is the first of its kind in the country and will provide decision support to school nurses and other providers caring for unwell students, the company said.

The system will provide instant alerts such as vaccine recommendations and will track outbreaks to the CLHD and school authorities.

Argus1 can be implemented by physician offices, emergency medical responders and hospital emergency departments, the company said.
