New Zealand's government has launched a new health domain name to make it easier to find a healthcare provider's website and email address.

Facilities with registered health practitioners, ambulances and approved health sector support organisations can now use the suffix ".health.nz" for their websites and email addresses.

The domain will enhance the credibility of web-based health information and will enable members of the sector to be easily identified in online communications, the government said.

The World Health Organization has encouraged the creation of a health domain to help users identify sites that meet standards of safety and accuracy.
