Rochester Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) in the US has linked six radiology centres to provide physicians with greater access to radiology images.

Rochester RHIO has deployed eHealth Global Technologies' (eHGT) eHealthConnect Image Exchange service to automate access to patient images across the member healthcare organisations.

Doctors will now be able to see patient information including X-rays, MRI, CT scans and ultrasounds at any time from a computer with a secure internet connection.

The image exchange enhances patient care by reducing duplicate testing and exposure of patients to unnecessary radiation, eHGT said.

Borg & Ide Imaging, Clifton Springs Hospital, Rochester General Health System, Rochester Diagnostic Imaging, Rochester Radiology Associates and Thompson Health are the six facilities that have joined the Rochester RHIO network.
