The UK's National Health Service (NHS) spent £300m on management consultants in 2008, according to a new report. The Management Consultancies Association report 'Improving Care, Reducing Cost' found that the NHS spent around 0.3% of its budget on management consultancy last year.

The Management Consultancies Association report 'Improving Care, Reducing Cost' found that the NHS spent around 0.3% of its budget on management consultancy last year.

The amount spent on consultancy by the NHS per employees is around a tenth of that spent by large private sector organisations, the report said.
