Max Healthcare, which operates eight healthcare centres across India, will implement an electronic health records (EHR) system to improve the quality of care and access to patient records.

Under an $18m ten-year agreement, IT services provider Perot Systems will implement the EHR system using VistA software, an open source software platform developed by the US Department of Veterans Affairs for healthcare facilities.

The company will also provide Max Healthcare with IT outsourcing services including infrastructure management capabilities, data hosting and project management.

The new system will help eliminate medical errors and ensure standard care workflows across Max Healthcare, the company said.
