India's hospital network the Apollo Group is planning to spend up to $389m (Rs1,800 crore) over the next two years to expand its existing facilities.

The investment is part of the group's plan to add 2,000 beds across the country, and open at least one new hospital every three months for the next year, business-standard.com reports.

The hospital chain has already added around 500 beds in the last six months, Apollo officials said.

The project will be funded through Apollo's internal funds amounting to Rs400 crore ($86.4m), and tie-ups with several financial institutions, the news agency reports.
