The US state of Wyoming has awarded a $4m contract to Affiliated Computer Services to build an electronic health record (EHR) network to improve health information connectivity across the state.

The health information exchange will allow hospitals and physician practices to access and share clinical information for the rural state’s Medicaid patients.

The contract includes a web-based “EHR-lite” that will allow providers who are yet to deploy an EHR access patient health histories and enter clinical data.

The network will also enable patients’ access and manage their own health information and fix appointments with their doctors through a personal health record, the government said.
