The Welsh Assembly is providing funds to hospitals to purchase additional ventilators to help them deal with a potential surge in H1N1 influenza cases.

Funds of £1.4m have been granted to equip critical care units with 65 extra ventilators across hospitals in Wales.

The government will also double the number of critical care beds in hospitals, along with specialist medical staff, if required.
