Construction has begun at a new $135m medical facility in the US state of Ohio.

The 275,000ft² Beavercreek Medical Center will have up to 113 beds and offer emergency care, general surgery, interventional medicine and critical care services.

The facility, being designed by US firm HOK, will offer a unique environment to patients with distinctive architecture, interior design and healing landscapes.

The new centre will incorporate a town square concept to help patients find their way around the facility by having all outpatient services and inpatient elevators identifiable from the main entry, HOK said.

The 22-acre site will also accommodate several medical office buildings and an additional inpatient tower in the future, as well as having the capacity to expand its diagnostic and treatment facilities.
