China will streamline the regulatory process for medical devices in the country to avoid duplicative product recall regulations and provide patients with access to advanced medical technologies.

The US Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) said it welcomes the series of commitments by China.

The Chinese Government said that companies will no longer be required to register their products in the country of export as a condition of registration in China for a medical device to be used in a healthcare setting.

A product registration document issued by any foreign country will be accepted by China irrespective of its exporting origin or country of manufacture, AdvaMed said.
