Saudi Arabia is seeking to increase the number of beds available in public hospitals across the country, especially in emergency room departments.

The Shoura Council said that the country needed to solve the issue of non-availability of vacant beds in hospitals as patients are forced to sleep in hospital mosques, according to Arab News.

But the council rejected the Medical and Environment Committee's recommendation to establish recovery centres to help hospitals accommodate more surgical patients.
