A new £840m ($1.4bn) super hospital will be built in Glasgow, Scotland and be open by 2015.
The New South Glasgow Hospital campus will include a 1,100-bed adult hospital, a 240-bed children’s hospital and laboratory facilities, according to worldarchitecturenews.com reports.
The new build will have 20 state-of-the-art operating theatres and house a number of specialist units.
The new facility, being built by Brookfield Europe who also constructed the new Wembley Stadium, will centralise acute services provided by three different hospitals.
All the beds will be in single rooms in the adult hospital wards to help prevent the spread of hospital infections, the government said.
The project, funded by the Scottish Government and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, is scheduled to be complete by 2015.
