Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Doha, Qatar has received full re-accreditation by the Joint Commission International (JCI) for its five hospitals.

All HMC hospitals have initiated steps to reduce crowding at their facilities to lower patient waiting times and meet the JCI requirements, according to The Peninsula.

The five hospitals accredited simultaneously include Hamad General Hospital, Women's Hospital, Al Amal Hospital, Rumailah Hospital and Al Khor Hospital.

HMC has recently introduced a new appointment system at the Women's Hospital and is looking to implement it at other units, HMC officials said.

The re-accreditation will enhance HMC's profile internationally, help it improve its services and attract highly qualified medical professionals from across the globe, the company said.

The accreditations, required every three years, took place between June and October 2009. This is the second time that HMC has been accredited.
