Findings from new research carried out by the Futures Company at the Teenage Cancer Trust's Skypad unit in Cardiff suggest that architecture can help in the recovery of cancer patients.

Designed by ORMS Architecture Design, the Skypad unit has incorporated chill-out areas and beds and micro-environments that put patients at ease and help teenagers to be more open for medical treatment.

The research found that the unit was unanimously supported by hospital staff, patients and parents.
