A number of UK hospitals have cancelled operations over the past week due to the cold snap that has resulted in heavy snowfall across the country.

At a number of medical centres in Britain, outpatient services and lower-priority operations have been cancelled.

Some patients have been asked not to make journeys to hospitals if their treatment could be postponed until it is safe to travel.

Many elective surgery procedures have been postponed and some surgeries are being operated only on a priority basis by staff able to make it into work.

Hospitals affected include Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital, The Oxford Heart Centre and the Horton General Hospital, Banbury.
