US President Barack Obama’s healthcare bill has hit difficulties following a Republican victory in the Massachusetts Senate race.

Republican Scott Brown’s win has taken away from the Democrats the crucial 60th Senate vote they need to pass the healthcare bill, Reuters reports.

Brown said previously he would be the 41st Republican vote against the healthcare overhaul in the 100-member Senate.

“People don’t want this trillion-dollar healthcare plan that is being forced on them,” Brown said.
