Florida Hospital's Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement (NCSA) in the US has received a $4.2m grant to develop its surgical robotic research.

The grant will be used to help establish a Global Center of Excellence in Medical Robotics and Simulation in NCSA to enhance civilian and military capabilities in surgical robotics.

Training at the centre will focus on capabilities in robotic tele-surgery, tele-mentoring and tele-broadcasting, which is aimed at enhancing healthcare outcomes and increasing patient safety, as well as reducing healthcare costs and creating high-tech jobs.
