US-based Adventist Health has signed a letter of intent with the Frank R Howard Foundation to finance, design and construct a new 25-bed community hospital in Willits, California.

The Howard Foundation will lease the property for the Howard Memorial Hospital to Adventist Health and provide the money it has already raised for the new hospital construction.

In return, Adventist Health will handle the design, further financing of approximately $58m, construction and hospital operations for the facility, reports willitsnews.com.

The campus will include a Diabetes and Wellness Center; a medical office building; and to facilitate the teaching hospital aspects, an auditorium and dormitory for interns and residents.

After the new design is complete, it will require review and approval by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development before any construction can begin.

The existing hospital site will be available for development once the new hospital is built, with all hospital operations consolidated at the new location, reports the news agency.
