Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital in Hong Kong has deployed Sensus Healthcare’s superficial radiotherapy system, SRT-100, to treat a series of skin maladies and non-melanoma skin cancers.

The 400-bed hospital has purchased the SRT-100 therapy system through Sensus’ distributor, Megatop Medical Technologies, which will be used by the oncologists and dermatologists to bring non-melanoma skin cancer treatment to patients in different settings.

The superficial radiation therapy system is designed to provide an alternative to surgical procedures for basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas.

Sensus Healthcare sales executive vice president Rick Golin said, "Sensus Healthcare and Megatop Medical are proud to be the vendor of choice at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital and are looking forward to a long term medical relationship with Sanatorium Hospital and their professional medical staff."

The mobile SRT-100 unit, which provides low energy radiotherapy that goes no deeper than the skin thickness, facilitates painless and effective non-melanoma skin cancer treatment to patients.

SRT is a non-invasive procedure used to treat a non-melanoma skin cancer. Because the superficial x-rays concentrate the radiation dose on the skin surface, the treatment has several advantages over surgical procedures, according to Sensus Healthcare.
