Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, US, has purchased 13 Carestream DRX-1 systems and two Carestream DRX-Mobile retrofit kits for its hospital and outpatient imaging centres.
The healthcare system will use the technology to streamline workflow and improve patient care at the East and West campuses of its hospital and its two outpatient imaging centres.
Bryan Medical Center radiology director Sharon Harms said Carestream’s easy-to-use DRX detector and software enhances image quality and visualisation of tubes and lines.
"It also offers remote reporting, which is an important capability for our managers," Harms added.
The installation will allow 90% of the facilities’ X-ray exams to be captured on Carestream’s digital radiography systems.
Conversion to DRX systems will allow physicians to gain immediate image access from existing portable systems in the ED and surgical suites, resulting in enhanced patient care.
Several additional DR systems are anticipated to be installed in 2013 to complete the conversion, according to the health system.
"Having direct image access in our exam rooms will enable technologists to complete the X-ray exam without leaving the patient, which enables greater patient safety and satisfaction while enhancing our productivity," Harms said.
