Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in North Carolina, US, has selected Amcom Software’s Amcom Messenger clinical alerting solution to improve patient satisfaction.
The hospital will implement secure two-way mobile messaging between caregivers and deliver alarms and alerts to providers on their mobile devices, from multiple systems.
Lake Norman Regional Medical Center information systems director Brian Bissonnette said the hospital wanted to improve nurse responsiveness as it was a category on patient surveys that showed an opportunity for increased satisfaction.
"But, we didn’t want to add more complexity to a nurse’s day. We found Amcom was able to help coordinate patient requests," Bissonnette added.
The HIPAA compliant, FDA-cleared Amcom Messenger is connected to bed management and nurse call systems to deliver secure messages to staff, allowing nurses to swiftly respond to queries.
An audit trail of all messages, a vital feature for internal analysis for care improvements, in addition to providing evidence of messaging in the event of a question, will be maintained by the system.
The system improves patient discharge times by coordinating transport staff and housekeeping staff, in addition to improving bed turnover by delivering instant messaging to environmental staff.
Amcom Software president Colin Balmforth said, "We are impressed with Lake Norman’s vision to use our solution for multiple initiatives: patient satisfaction, patient discharge, nurse workflow, and bed turnover."
