NCC Construction Sweden has signed an agreement valued at about SEK400m ($60m) to construct Angered Hospital in Sweden.

The project, ordered by Västfastigheter, is expected to be registered in the fourth quarter of 2012 and construction is expected to commence in 2013.

Sweden’s first newly built community hospital project will be carried out on partnering basis.

"Together, we will be able to create spaces that will satisfy the needs of the hospital and ultimately the city’s inhabitants."

NCC Construction western region department manager Fredrik Johansson said the construction of Angered Hospital is a good way for the company to contribute to public welfare in the north east of Gothenburg.

"Partnering is a work method that is well suited to the production of hospital buildings since it allows a process in which decisions about technical care solutions can be made closer to the opening date and gives us secure control over the project’s final cost, date of completion and quality," Johansson added.

The 18,000m² facility, which is planned for completion in 2015, will house specialist clinics, operating theatres and a district health centre.

The design and layout of the building is the result of an approach based on the patient and cooperation between areas of treatment.

Västfastigheter property director Lars Janson said, "Together, we will be able to create spaces that will satisfy the needs of the hospital and ultimately the city’s inhabitants. In NCC, we also have a partner that enables us to achieve our lofty environmental objectives."
