Texas Health Resources, a nonprofit health system in the US, has broken ground on a $20m, 60,000ft² outpatient centre in Willow Park, about 20 miles west of Fort Worth in Parker County.
Texas Health Willow Park is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2014 and will be Texas Health’s first facility in Parker County.
Located on eight acres at the northwest corner of Interstate 20 and Crown Pointe Boulevard, the new centre will feature a freestanding emergency department, fitness centre and three-storey medical office building.
The outpatient centre will provide services including cardiac rehabilitation, behavioural health, physical therapy, laboratory services, advanced imaging, and a chronic disease management programme.
The centre will be the first part of an integrated health campus that will expand in the future. Expansion plans include a new surgery centre and an expansion of space for more physicians and medical services.
The campus’s medical offices are expected to have many types of physicians, possibly including internists, orthopaedists, cardiologists and OB/GYNs.
The facility is also expected to attract neurologists, urologists and urogynecologists.
Texas Health executive vice president and Southwest Zone clinical leader Dr Harold Berenzweig said that Texas Health provides care to more patients in the southwest region of North Texas than any other health care provider.
"Today, we’re breaking ground on a facility that will bring primary care and other select specialities to Willow Park and surrounding Parker County communities, making it more convenient for residents to get quality care close to home," Dr Berenzweig added.
Texas Health Willow Park will also serve other nearby communities, including Weatherford, Aledo, Hudson Oaks and Annetta.
Currently, the closest hospital to Willow Park is almost ten miles away, while the closest Texas Health facility, Texas Health Southwest, is 15 miles away.
The health system includes 25 acute care and short-stay hospitals that are owned, operated, joint-ventured or affiliated with Texas Health Resources.
