UC Health has broken ground on a new 42,000ft² outpatient medical office building in Florence, Kentucky.
Its location on Cavalier Boulevard in Florence will provide easy access to Interstate 71 and Interstate 75.
UC Health is working with Cincinnati-based Al. Neyer to design and construct the facility, which is expected to be complete in July 2014.
UC Health orthopaedics and dermatology practices already in Northern Kentucky will move to the new Cavalier Blvd. facility upon its completion.
The practices will remain open in Southgate and another Florence location until then.
The new facility will also allow UC Health to add services in Northern Kentucky.
The new two-storey facility is one of eight primary care centres opening or relocating in 2014-15 in respond to the growing communities in the greater Cincinnati region.
It will also add speciality practices in cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology.
University of Cincinnati Physicians and UC Health vice president of strategic planning/development Peter Iacobell said the expansion in Florence is part of UC Health’s strategy to grow where there is an increasing need for access to quality health care.
"Access is a top system priority, so our expansion plan focuses on enhancing access to quality health care – both in terms of geography and speciality care – for patients throughout the Tristate," Iacobell added.
The two-story facility will have easy access to parking and an open interior design for patient convenience.
Al. Neyer executive vice president Jim Neyer said the company is the leading developer for medical office space in Greater Cincinnati, and it is committed to delivering a state-of-the-art building for UC Health.
"Our design-build method gives us the edge when defining the project scope and committing to cost early in the process," Neyer added.
"This greatly benefits UC Health as we are able to move on this project sooner."
Chris Vollmer, SIOR, and Chris Vollmer Jr., members of the Colliers International Healthcare Services Practice Group, represented UC Health in this transaction.
UC Health is the University of Cincinnati’s affiliated health system and includes UC Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, Drake Center, the University of Cincinnati Physicians multi-speciality practice group, Lindner Center of HOPE, and several institutes focusing on cancer, the neurosciences, cardiovascular and diabetes.
