The University of Utah, US, will deploy Wolters Kluwer Health’s ProVation MultiCaregiver at its Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) to upgrade the institutes electronic health record and patient charting capabilities.

The software will replace paper charting for perioperative documentation and create an electronic patient record throughout the procedural continuum of care.

ProVation MultiCaregiver, which interfaces with vitals monitors, scheduling and patient demographic systems, will provide nurses, anesthesiologists and other care providers with quick access to document care.

The solution is expected to help the cancer institute to cut operating time and cost as well as improve workflow efficiency, documentation compliance and revenues.

HCI, which is the only National Cancer Institute-designated centre in the five-state Intermountain West, provides health care services to over 30% of Utah’s cancer patients.

Salt Lake City-based cancer institute is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and manages the Utah Population Database, which is considered to be the world’s largest genetic database with over 16 million records.
