Montefiore New Rochelle and Montefiore Mount Vernon hospitals in New York have entered an agreement with Allscripts MDRX to upgrade both hospitals to the Allscripts Sunrise 6.1 integrated electronic health record, as well as the Sunrise Clinical Analytics, Sunrise Radiology and Sunrise Laboratory.

The two hospitals will also implement the Allscripts FollowMyHealth patient engagement solution. Montefiore Health System recently acquired Montefiore New Rochelle and Montefiore Mount Vernon.

Montefiore chief information officer Jack Wolf noted Allscripts Sunrise has played an important role in the care of patients at both hospitals, and it looks forward to the ongoing use of this electronic health record system.

"We are also encouraged by the patient engagement solutions offered by Allscripts, which allow patients to better manage their own care by staying informed and connected," Wolf added.

Allscripts Sunrise 6.1 is a robust and advanced electronic health record (EHR) information solution, with significant functional enhancements, which will help clinicians meet Meaningful Use Stage 1 and 2 requirements and manage the complexity of ICD-10.

According to data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Allscripts has the second-most Meaningful Use attestations among healthcare information technology vendors from 2011-2013.

Allscripts FollowMyHealth is patient engagement solution that combines the value of a personal health record, the power of a patient portal and the connectivity of a health information exchange. FollowMyHealth will be a key part of the company’s expanded partnership with Montefiore, Allscripts said.

Allscripts president and CEO Paul M Black noted the company has been committed to these hospitals for many years and it is pleased Montefiore decided to continue the agreement.

"Sunrise 6.1 is a fully integrated EHR solution, with a growing track record of successful implementations, and is designed to effectively manage regulatory requirements and evolving business needs. The powerful combination of our solutions will help ensure the continued delivery of exceptional patient care," Black added.

The five-year extension and upgrade at Montefiore New Rochelle and Montefiore Mount Vernon is expected to improve patient outcomes at the two hospitals.

Montefiore Health System has opened Montefiore New Rochelle, Montefiore Mount Vernon and Schaffer Extended Care Center in November 2013 at the former Sound Shore Health System facilities.
