The San Francisco Department of Public Health, in California, US, has launched a two-year electronic health record (EHR) project for its physicians to help them meet ARRA meaningful use requirements.

The project will equip 800 doctors in San Francisco with knowledge of electronic medical record and practical management systems, which were developed by Massachusetts-based eClinicalWorks.

The EHRs will be implemented in community and hospital-based primary care and speciality clinics over the next couple of years.

The system will be implemented by the on-site eClinicalWorks technical team, which will work closely with departmental information technology staff to ensure successful installation and effective knowledge transfer.
