England’s health watchdog has identified a series of quality and safety breaches at Penn Hospital in Wolverhampton.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission identified ten areas of concern during two unannounced visits to the hospital.

These related to patient consent, safeguarding, the care and welfare of people who use the services, safety and suitability of premises, medicine management, record-keeping, training and staffing levels.

The hospital has been asked to submit an action plan to address the issues.

The CQC has said that the inspectors will return to the trust to check if necessary changes have been made, and to decide if further action needs to be taken.
