The NHS has launched an iPhone application that will enable patients to keep track of their appointments and rate NHS services.

The Wellnote app enables users to enter their medical history and details of allergies, specific problems, results and their medications.

The recorded information can be emailed or shown to a doctor in case of an emergency.

The application contains a list of 2,000 medications, and users can create alerts regarding the time to take medications and NHS appointments.

Patients can also anonymously rate the health services in England using the application, and the results would be displayed alongside official ratings from the health watchdog the Care Quality Commission, which will allow them to compare the scores.
