The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), UK, has issued a warning regarding possible problems associated with surgical instruments.

According to MHRA, it has received a number of complaints from the users stating that the quality of some surgical instruments is unsatisfactory.

Therefore, MHRA has recommended users exercise care while purchasing new instruments, to check they are fit for purpose.

In addition, the agency has asked the users to inquire if the devices offered are below the market price, as such practice may indicate counterfeit or substandard quality assurance products.

MHRA is planning to work with manufacturers and users to increase the quality of the devices, and has asked the users to report details of any specific problems, via the MHRA adverse incident reporting system.
