Shriners Hospitals for Children has become the first hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, to deploy the Masimo non-invasive and continuous haemoglobin (SpHb) monitoring technology to monitor patient blood levels during surgery.
Masimo SpHb allows healthcare professionals to track haemoglobin changes in real-time, providing earlier indications of directional changes than intermittent and invasive haemoglobin values.
The device helps healthcare team to identify upward and downward haemoglobin trends on a second-by-second basis so they can initiate a lifesaving blood transfusion as soon as one is needed.
