England’s Care Quality Commission (CQC) has issued a formal warning to Hazelwood Care-owned St Joseph’s Care Home in Harrow that it needs to improve the standard of care it offers.

Inspectors were concerned about records that are not being reviewed regularly, and that the current care needs of individuals were not met.

The social care regulator asked St Joseph’s Care Home to plan and deliver care to meet individual needs by 15 September 2011.

Regional director Colin Hough said this warning notice sends a clear and public message that St Joseph’s needs to address these issues as a matter of urgency or face serious consequences.

“Our inspectors will return to St Joseph’s shortly and if we find that the provider is not making the required progress we won’t hesitate to use our legal powers on behalf of the people who live there,” Hough said.
