Avery Dennison Medical Solutions’ chlorhexidine gluconate adhesive delivery system provides antimicrobial efficacy across a broad range of bacteria and yeast, according to tests conducted by an independent laboratory.
The system allows an access or incision site to be seen, a critical parameter for vascular access and post-op dressings.
Preliminary cytotoxicity tests show that the system may be appropriate for applications when an infection spreads, and moisture management and transparency are required.
This could include the securement of IV catheters, surgical incision films and post-op dressings.
The data also demonstrated that the challenge of incorporating chlorhexidine gluconate within a solvent acrylic adhesive has been successfully addressed.
