A new US association has been set up to support the increased use of surgical robots.

The Memphis Robotic Surgery Society has been established by a group of doctors specialising in robotic surgery and promotes the technology saying it leads to smaller cuts, little bleeding and quicker recovery.

The group is working to train healthcare workers, inform patients and gather clinical data regarding the new surgical technology.

Robotics allow surgeons to carrying out their work with robotic mechanical arms that can bend inside the patient’s body.
