Walsall Hospitals NHS Trust in the UK has adopted a new visual control system to improve resource efficiency and bed use in the hospital.
The new system, Horizon Enterprise Visibility will help the hospital reduce costs and improve the quality of patient care by providing real-time access to patient information, says product manufacturer McKesson.
The electronic whiteboard installed at ward level works by taking feeds from different information systems of the hospital.
It displays the patient flow information on large format LCD screens as per the hospital plan, using colour-coded and time-stamped icons.
It provides staff with information on the availability of beds, patient safety attributes and when lab results are ready.
