The ground has been broken for the construction of the new Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in the US state of Illinois after a six-year wait for the project’s start.

The $50m hospital construction in Lincoln is being built on a 116,000ft² site and is expected to be complete by late 2010.

The new hospital will be located west of the business loop of Interstate 55 and will replace the landlocked hospital near the city’s downtown district, local newspaper The Pantagraph reports.
