US Cardinal Health Foundation, which works towards improving the quality of healthcare across the country, has granted $1m to 35 hospitals and health clinics supporting creative programmes to enhance patient safety.

The funds are aimed at improving medication safety and reducing healthcare-associated infections through a number of programmes to address the National Quality Forum’s priority areas.

Facilities receiving the grants have initiated schemes such as targeted screening for MRSA, strategies to improve physician hand hygiene and electronic medical record implementation as well as medication practices.
