Rush University Medical Centre in Chicago, US has launched an online and phone referral source for counties all across the Chicago area to cater to children with autism.

The Autism Resource Centre provides case management services like therapies, after-school programmes and dental practices with doctors who have experience working with autistic children.

One in 150 children is now diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, according to the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Advocacy group Autism Speaks director of family services Lisa Goring said that more hospitals are creating referral sources to help families cope with children with the disorder, The Chicago Tribune reports.
