Auckland Hospitals Get $5m to Cut Surgery Waits

The New Zealand Government has given a $5m grant to Auckland and Northland hospitals to cut waiting times for state-paid heart surgery. Recent audits show that 141 patients at the Auckland City Hospital had been waiting too long for surgery, the New Zealand Herald reports.

The New Zealand Government has given a $5m grant to Auckland and Northland hospitals to cut waiting times for state-paid heart surgery.

Recent audits show that 141 patients at the Auckland City Hospital had been waiting too long for surgery, the New Zealand Herald reports.

The money will be used to increase the number of Saturday theatre sessions and outsource operations from public to private hospitals.
