The Australian Government has given a $4.3m grant to the Royal Darwin Hospital to expand its emergency department’s capacity to reduce patient waiting times and improve quality of care.
The grant will enable the recruitment of new staff and the restructuring of the emergency department, the government has said.
The funds are in addition to a previous investment of $1m to build two operating theatres and purchase important medical equipment under the government’s elective surgery wait list reduction strategy.
