Telemedicine and workplace clinics in the US might be more effective in reforming the healthcare system than insuring everyone, according to a new report by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

The health industry can improve care and lower costs through public-private efforts, PwC said.

The report also found that expanding insurance coverage will exacerbate deficiencies in the health system, such as labour shortages.

PwC also said that misuse of emergency rooms by patients increased when the ratio of insured patients was higher, Reuters reports.
