The first two batches of the UAE’s 3.2 millon doses of H1N1 influenza vaccine will arrive in September 2009, according to a senior health official.

The UAE will be the third country after the US and the UK to receive such a volume of the vaccine, the Khaleej Times reports.

Sharjah Preventive Medicine Department technical director Gamil M Tourky has said publicly that vaccination will be available to nationals and expatriates.

“Priority will be given to people in the high-risk groups, including children, the elderly, people with chronic diseases and pregnant women,” Tourky said.
