The Australian Government has announced it is to build a new A$6.65m GP Super Clinic for the state of Victoria, bringing the total number of government-funded super clinics to 34.

The GP Super Clinic to be opened in Wodonga city will focus on chronic disease self-management and provide training and education to medical, pharmacy and nursing students.

The Wodonga clinic is to be run by a consortium led by local GPs and will offer pathology services, audiology and podiatry as well as a pharmacy, the government said.

Doctors who relocate to Wodonga from a metropolitan centre will get grants of A$15,000 and retention incentives of up to A$12,000 each year after five years, the government said.
