St Joseph’s Healthcare System in the US has launched a $250m five-year expansion and renovation project at its two centres in New Jersey to serve growing patient demand.
The St Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, also known as the St Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, in Paterson will be fitted with a new 173,798ft² critical care building with adult and paediatric emergency departments, surgical suites and critical care units.

Work at St Joseph’s Wayne Hospital includes the renovation and expansion of the intensive care unit/critical care unit, expansion of the surgical suites and post-operative area, and renovation of the lobby.
Two existing operating rooms will be replaced with two 600ft² operating rooms designed to meet the current and future technology demands of surgery, hospital authorities said.
