The largest hospital in Wales has been suspended of its post-mortem examinations by a watchdog for deficiencies in operating policies and procedures.

The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) has stripped the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust University Hospital of Wales (UHW) of its two licences for failing to comply with HTA standards, the BBC reports.

The HTA inspection found serious shortcomings in operating conditions, procedures, facilities and equipment in the UHW mortuary, the news agency reports.

The Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust has ordered an inquiry to look into the problems leading to Hthe TA’s decision.
