The US Government has granted more than $25.7m to expand and improve the services at health centres across the country.

Of the total amount, 180 grants have been given totalling more than $21.9m to existing health centres to add or increase services for the treatment of mental health, substance abuse and oral health. In addition, these grants have covered outreach and pharmacy services.

The remaining $3.8m will be used to develop new health centre sites in the most underserved areas. These must meet federal requirements for governance, community involvement, quality of care and financial feasibility.
